Installation choices · User guide
The same ListMyDay server supports two deployment environments. Choose based on where your server will run. These are instructions for operators installing the server, not for ordinary users installing the iOS app.
Home server — private LAN HTTP
Ubuntu on a home computer, accessed only from devices on your private network. No domain, Nginx or TLS certificate required. Plain HTTP is for development and testing only; it does not protect data or tokens from observers on the network.
Public VPS — HTTPS
Ubuntu 24.04 on a publicly reachable VPS, with Nginx, your own DNS domain, trusted TLS 1.3 certificates, restricted firewall and loopback-only Python API. The official listmyday.com hostnames cannot be used for another operator’s VPS.
Source code and installation scripts
The maintained server source, bootstrap scripts, and installation runbooks are in ListMyDay Server on GitLab. The ListMyDay iOS app repository contains the client and this documentation website. Repository access may require an authorized GitLab account if the projects are private.
Both installations require tenant isolation and device authorization. Do not expose the home HTTP service to the Internet.
